Since LJ was sold to a Russian company, there are periodically rumors that it is going to bite the dust. Should those rumors look imminent, one option is to migrate to a Wordpress blog. Wordpress has come out with a tool for doing so that looks promising.

This has been all over my reading list, but it's so cute and funny I'm reposting it for anyone who has somehow managed to miss it.  Besides, I want to save it :)

Listen to this...

So I followed [info]pentane's link to Pandora and played around a
bit. I tended to enter in the more obscure groups I could think of, and
bands I hadn't listened to in a while. The result is acoustic retro. But
at least Leslie Gore hasn't shown up yet, so it isn't TOO retro!

Anyway, I used it's option to email the link to myself:

To immediately listen to this music station I've created (named "Loredena's
Radio")
simply click on this link or copy and paste it into your Internet browser:

http://www.pandora.com/?sc=sh12085933

This station plays on Pandora, a music listening and discovery service.
Pandora
enables users to easily create streaming stations that explore their
favorite
parts of the music universe.

Enjoy!

What country are we living in again?

Agents visit a student for requesting Mao's Little Red Book from the library.

/eta The student this article was about has recanted. I have to say I'm very relieved, as this had been scarily plausible to me.

Using Tobacco plants to produce vaccines

If this works it will be amazingly cool. In addition to being able to reduce the costs of vaccine production, whilst reducing the risk of contamination, it solves the problem of 'what do the tobacco farmers do?'
